Has Luxury Fashion Been Heavily Influenced by Urban Style in 2017 Collections?

London and Milan Fashion Week have passed and Paris Fashion week is off to a strong start. But the trend we’ve been noticing as of late is the shifts in the luxury fashion world from formalwear to an urban inspired style.

Everyone loves the cool, fashionable teens and adults featured in streetstyle blogs, and designers such as Versace, Gucci, and most noticeably, Louis Vuitton have all taken on this style for their Fall 2017 collections. Yesterday, Louis Vuitton and Supreme premiered their new collaboration for the world to covet at Paris Fashion Week. The shocking, virtually unheard of collar shook the fashion world, along with social media, invoking many praises from celebs and luxury and urban blogs alike.

Usher said of the collab, “I was just talking to my friend about the idea of how things come around. Because many years ago Supreme was given a cease-and-desist [by Louis Vuitton]. Now to see them collaborate is cool…you gotta stay focused on the kids.”

The cease-and-desist that Usher speaks of occurred in 2000 when Supreme released some skate decks that closely resembled Louis Vuitton’s monogram. We’re glad things came around also because the collab was amazing!

Certainly unmatched by any collab in 2016, Louis Vuitton and Supreme kept the show trendy and upbeat with the bold red color adored by Supreme lovers, the brown monogram loved by Louis stans (and apparently by Supreme in 2000 as clarified by Usher), and topped it off with some techno beats for the models to walk to. We can’t wait for it to be released in July!
