2 MLB Players Die the Same Day in the Dominican Republic

Two of MLB's stars died in separate car wrecks this past week.

Yordano Ventura (25 yrs. old) who played for the Kansas City Royals and Andy Marte (33 yrs. old) who was a former player for the Diamondbacks, Braves and Indians as an infielder both passed away while visiting their homes in the Dominican Republic.

Many find the incidents very bizarre because of the identical nature in which both athletes died. Oddly enough, Marte's final game in the Major's was against Ventura and the Royals in 2014.

In Ventura'a case according to the MLB official website, the Royals indicated they were still collecting details, but there were reports out of the Dominican that the crash took place on a highway in Rancho Arriba, a town in the province of San Jose de Ocoa. Ventura's hometown is in Las Terrenas, where the funeral services are expected to take place.

Andy Marte's accident, which reportedly occurred just hours before Ventura’s, happened after the Mercedes Benz he was driving, hit a house along a road between San Francisco de Macoris and Pimentel. According to ESPN his family planned to bury him within hours of the incident.
