Malia Obama Joins Dakota Access Pipeline Protest

When you’re work/play balance is on key…

Malia Obama seems to be making the most out of her year-long downtime before entering her freshmen year at Harvard.

Recently, the eldest daughter of the Obama’s was spotted during her trip to the Sundance Film Festival where she took time out on Monday to attend an event supporting the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe's protest against the Dakota Access Pipeline.

While there, actress and anti-DAP activist Shailene Woodley took notice of Malia’s presence and shared her admiration for the former First Daughter's willingness to take a stand on such important issues.

In an interview with DemocracyNow.org Woodley stated, “It was amazing to see Malia. To witness a human being and a woman coming into her own outside of her family and outside of the attachments that this country has on her, but someone who's willing to participate in democracy because she chooses to, because she recognizes, regardless of her last name, that if she doesn't participate in democracy, there will be no world for her future children."

Malia is set to begin an internship with mega-producer Harvey Weinstein in February.

Keep doing your thang girl! Keep doing your thang.
