And the award for this year’s Golden Globe goes to…Hidden Fences?
It all started when a red carpet interview between NBC’s correspondent, Jenna Bush Hager and music producer Pharrell Williams, took a turn for the worst or in this case “the awkwards” when Jenna mistakenly asked Pharrell about his Golden Globe nomination for his work on the movie “Hidden Fences.”
You heard it right, “Hidden Fences.” The movie starring undeniable talents such as Denzel Washington, Viola Davis, Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Janelle Monae.
A riveting film about the brilliance behind 3 African American women serving as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of sanitation worker, Troy Maxson (played by Denzel) and his wife (played by Viola) into space!
Yeaaaa not quite the correct synopsis but what some may have imagined the made up film to be about after hearing the daughter of former President George W. Bush botch up the title.
“So you’re nominated for ‘Hidden Fences’…” Jenna can be seen asking Pharrell.
And William’s response? Priceless.
The ‘Happy’ singer was definitely nominated, but for his work on the soundtrack to “Hidden Figures” instead.
The red carpet mishap unfortunately wasn’t the last onlookers heard of the now infamous movie title. Actor Michael Keaton also misspoke the name after announcing nominees for best supporting actress.
This of course is when twitter had had enough and decided to go in. Trending hashtags such as #HiddenFences and #GoldenGlobeErrors were created to give immediate reaction to the blooper as well as make fun of the movie mix up by making up similarly named movie titles.
Nobody going to tell these people it's "Hidden Figures" not Hidden Fences????— Charlamagne Tha God (@cthagod) January 9, 2017
With the way this year has been rolling in, I'd say 2017 is shaping up to be a real 2016 2.0 eh?
