The age old question; the one that we’ve heard a thousand times before: Why didn’t Oprah ever decide to have any kids?
Oprah Winfrey: A household name, a former TV-Host turned entrepreneur. A humanitarian and car-giver (You get a car! You get a car!). And most certainly an all-out boss who’s successfully managed to acquire everything a woman and a man could want with the exception of having kids.
In a recent interview the 63-year-old sat down with Good Housekeeping to share her reasoning behind her decision not to make Stedman her baby’s daddy as well as shed light on her recent weight loss victory.
“For me it was perfect, because I didn’t want babies. I wouldn’t have been a good mom for babies. I don’t have the patience. I have the patience for puppies, but that’s a quick stage!..
Further elaborating on her stance of being at peace with not having kids the ex-television host said it’s because she feels like she’s the mother to the world’s children.
“'When people were pressuring me to get married and have children, I knew I was not going to be a person that ever regretted not having them, because I feel like I am a mother to the world’s children.”
After the topic of children Winfrey shed light on her recent success of weight loss and how her new eating habits have caused her to come out from a stage of hiding.
“The wonderful thing for me is that I reached a point where I no longer wanted to hide. I know that sounds strange for somebody who is in the public eye, but it was my shield and my shame.”
She continued, “Now I feel liberated! It’s the thing I’ve been looking for my whole life – To feel a sense of freedom. The taste of freedom? There’s nothing better than that!”
