#SayHerName: Twitter Responds to the Death of America's First Ever Female Muslim Judge – Sheila Abdus-Salaam – Who Was Found Dead in the Hudson River

What.In.The.Hell? Like, literal hell because Satan has his paws written all over this one…

It’s with a sad and heavy heart that we report the death of the country’s first ever female Muslim judge, 65-year-old Sheila Abdus-Salaam.

According to the New York Post, Abdus-Salaam’s body was found dead floating in the Hudson River just before 2pm on Wednesday – the location, not even a mile away from her central Harlem home.

Suspicions of the Justice’s whereabouts grew heavily on Tuesday morning which prompted her husband to report her as a missing person. Regrettably, a day after filing, he was brought in to identify her body.

Although police sources say there were no signs of foul play many concerned citizens are thinking otherwise. Taking to Twitter to share in sadness and voice concerns over the matter, many individuals are expressing their doubts on the unofficial ruling as well as airing out their frustrations on the media’s quick decision to label the incident as a suicide.

One reader tweeted:

“The story says Sheila Abdus-Salaam’s death ‘appears to be suicide’ but she’s the 1st female Muslim in US history, “appears” isn’t enough.”

Another commenter wrote:

“They are now trying to claim the Black judge - Sheila Abdus-Salaam – who was found dead in the Hudson River committed suicide. That’s bulls**t.”

Although a determined cause of death has not yet been revealed, it seems reasonable for anyone affected by the situation to give a good side eye until a proper autopsy is complete. After all, we have witnessed a considerable spike in hate crimes since the Presidential election, leaving myself and many others dumbfounded and somewhat in the “sunken place” ever since.

Abdus-Salaam was nominated in 2013 to serve on the state Court of Appeals by Gov. Cuomo.

R.I.L. Mrs. Sheila Abdus-Salaam! May your impeccable legacy withstand the test of time.
