California Woman ‘Beaten To A Pulp’ After Going On a Date With A Guy She Met On Instagram

EFB Fam: Y’all better stick to Tender, Match, or whatever else is deemed safe these days when finding your potential soul mate…

A Los Angeles-area woman learned the hard way about getting too close to an Instagram Bae who ended up beating her to a pulp after she decided to meet up with him based off what his pics looked like online.

32-year-old India Ali, said she didn’t think the meeting would be a bad idea since the attacker, James Baker 27, didn’t appear to show any signs of being crazy on his Instagram page.

“He didn’t really look like a creep from his pictures. He looked like he had it going on.”

After browsing his photos, Ali agreed to go on a date with Baker, which he documented on social media, posting several videos of the pair drinking and partying the night away at a restaurant before luring Ali back to his hotel room at the Westin near LAX.

The following morning, the unexpected (or in many other people’s minds the expected) happened with Ali waking up in a puddle of throw up and blood strewn all over the room.

“I woke up. I lifted my head up. I was lying in a puddle of throw up. So I look around and I see blood everywhere and my clothes everywhere.”

Ali was alone in the room when she noticed how badly she’d been beaten and used a landline in the hotel to call 911 once she realized her car and cell phone were missing.

She was taken to Ronald Regan UCLA Medical Center, where doctors determined she had suffered serious head injuries. She was so badly beaten that her brain swelled and was forced down, which put pressure on her fourth vertebrae and caused her to vomit, Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney David Berger said.

As for Instagram Bae turned Instagram Nay, it was found he had prior convictions and was on bail for allegedly using fake credit cards – he was also found guilty of assaulting Ali. His sentencing was postponed earlier this month.

Sigh SMH. May this be a thoughtful reminder to stay woke on this new age dating thing...
